As is common with any self-respecting film website, each end of year sees everyone scrambling to get their collective lists of their favourite forms of media from the calendar year. While I would normally agree to get these done sooner rather than later (though any time at the beginning of December seems too soon) I’ve been piling the final week of 2016 with film catch-ups that I missed in cinemas due to numerous reasons. This means that my top 10 Films of 2016 will actually come in the first weekend of 2017, but what it doesn’t mean is that there will be a void of content. Part of the reason for missing so many films released in UK cinemas this year was because of the absolute wealth of excellent serialised dramas, comedies and thrillers spread out over the year at home, all as worthy of your time as any film released in the twelve months.
On this page you’ll find a link to each individual post – five in total – that reveal my favourites of 2016 in Television, specific episodes, films both bad and good, and a brief preview of those to be released in the forthcoming year that I was lucky enough to see at the 60th BFI London Film Festival back in October.
